  1. Commentary and examples

  4.         When converting rulings, regulations, specifications, or
  5.         procedures into hypertext, the language of the source material
  6.         often interferes with easy understanding.  The two solutions
  7.         are:
  8.  
  9. Opinion         Vocabulary ... use a hypertext thesaurus/glossary system
  10. <jump>                which for every key word provides a definition,
  11.                       synonyms, and broader/narrower/preferred usage terms.
  12.                       Also include links to key occurrences.  See <form7>

  14. Example         Commentary and explanation ... If the text is obtuse,
  15. <jump>                add links in the margins of the text to explain,
  16.                       interpret, expand upon, or give application
  17.                       examples (called "alternate expression" hypertext)
  18.  
  19.         The real goal in hypertext is converting textual material into
  20.         formats in which all users can rapidly find and easily understand
  21.         whatever they desire.  If the source material is in anyway unclear,
  22.         hypertext developers may also need to be commentary authors on the
  23.         contained subject.
